7 years ago my roommate and I were driving somewhere in the South African countryside and saw this life size Oscar on the side of the road. I pulled over and snapped this pic. Tonight, this guy is AT the Oscars in the running for a real Oscar of his own. His film, Borrowed Time is up for Best Animated Short Film. I couldn’t be more proud. Good luck, Lou Hamou-Lhadj!

I’m having one of those days when I wonder how I’ve survived being me. I’ve kicked a couple of backsides today with my frankness and I hope I haven’t been too offensive. But sloppiness and general lack of interest in being present or engaged isn’t a characteristic I appreciate. And I feel better for having said so. Not only online but to the people I lost patience with today. I’ll try harder tomorrow to be more compassionate and less upfront, or critical. We’ll see how that works out. I know I’m not perfect, but I have higher expectations than mediocre being the best someone has, myself included. If I’ve ever been just mediocre to you, I’m sorry.

15 years ago on the last day of my LDS mission in the Czech Republic, I bought this t shirt hoping that someday I would have a son to give it to. Turns out it’s very poorly made. The neck hole is newborn size, while the bodice is for a 5 yr old. They’ll probably never wear it again, but there it is. The translation is a bit difficult, sikovny(eh) can mean many things. But it’s something like “I’m small, but clever.”

Not sure my Uber driver is actually old enough to drive. Feels like future practice with Wyatt and Walker.

Thankful it’s only one hour of someone else occupying my seat.
